Fire in a residential building in Arrecife

Firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium extinguished a fire in a residential building on José Molina street in Arrecife on Wednesday night.

After being alerted by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands at around 10:15 p.m., the firefighters went to the scene, where agents of the National Police and the Local Police and personnel from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) were located.

Once there, they verified that it was a fire of clothes and belongings in the stairwell of the second floor and informed the people who occupied the upper floors of the fire to stay on the balconies and with the doors of the houses closed. At the same time, the firefighters placed an aerial ladder at the rear of the building, on Real Street, in anticipation of a possible evacuation.

The firefighters proceeded to extinguish the fire and ventilate the building and, once it was verified that there was no smoke in the houses, they authorized the entry of the owners to them, since some were not in them when the fire occurred.

However, the tenant of the house in whose door the burning materials were accumulated was not authorized to enter, since there was still smoke in said house.
