The strong gusts of wind continue this Saturday, February 28, in Lanzarote, where maximums of up to 87 kilometers per hour have been recorded at César Manrique Airport, according to data collected during the morning.

The episode has forced the firefighters of the Consorcio de Seguridad y Emergencias to intervene in dozens of incidents spread across different points of the Isla and also in La Graciosa, mainly due to falling branches, detached elements on facades and risk of falling objects.

The Consortium manager, Enrique Espinosa, has indicated that the most significant risk during this day is at sea, with combined seas and waves that can exceed four meters in height in the entire northwest, west, and southwest area of Lanzarote, as well as in La Graciosa.

Among the actions carried out throughout the morning are the removal of a detached lamppost on Ico street, in Argana Baja (Arrecife); the fall of a palm tree on Las Playas Avenue, in front of Hotel San Antonio, in Puerto del Carmen (Tías); and the re-establishment of a fence in Pedro Barba, in La Graciosa, municipality of Teguise.

Action was also taken due to a satellite dish at risk of falling on La Laguna street, in Costa Teguise; a loose sheet metal in the Cofradía area, in Playa Blanca (Yaiza); and a fallen agave over a power cable on Sancocho street, in Mozaga (Teguise).

In Los Valles (Teguise), firefighters intervened due to broken tree branches on Mamerto Pérez street, while in Playa Blanca a sign with risk of falling was secured on Papagayo Avenue, in the Papagayo Shopping Center.
