The GES-EMERLAN rescue boat intervened on the afternoon of this Saturday, August 16, in two consecutive rescues that occurred on the coast of Puerto del Carmen, which left a total of five people assisted.
According to the emergency NGO, the alerts were received around 4:30 p.m.
In the first warning, a jet ski capsized with two occupants, who had to be rescued by EMERLAN personnel. Once they were safe, the motorcycle was also recovered from the water.
Minutes later, the boat went to a second incident, in which an inflatable mattress had moved too far from the shore due to the wind and currents. On this occasion, three people were rescued and transported back to the coast.
From EMERLAN they remember the importance of taking extreme precautions before entering the sea. “It is essential to check the wind and wave conditions, as currents can quickly drag mattresses, floats or small boats out to sea,” they point out.
