Search for missing shellfish gatherer in Haría

The emergency device transferred to Las Cocinas beach, near Caletón Blanco, has moved again from 6.30 am this Tuesday to continue with the search for the missing shellfish gatherer in the area during the afternoon of last Monday. The missing man is Pepe Acuña, a native of Guatiza and known as the "gravedigger."

Personnel from Emerlan and the Firefighters of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium have traveled to the place again during the morning after having temporarily abandoned the search at night due to vision difficulties.

An Advanced Command Post of the Security and Emergency Consortium has already been set up in the area to coordinate the device transferred to the area. So there will be a single communication channel with 112 and the devices deployed in Las Cocinas.

A basic life support ambulance, two Emerlan rapid intervention vehicles that are working on foot in the area, have been mobilized to the area. In addition, from 7:00 a.m. a GES helicopter has also joined, which will alternate with the Helimer of Maritime Rescue and the Civil Guard. From 8:30 a.m., the GES-Emerlan boat was also added.

The firefighters of the Emergency Consortium are combing the area with jet skis, on foot and with a drone unit.

It is expected that an Emerlan drone will be transferred to the site from noon. In addition, we are waiting to see if it is necessary to mobilize the GEAS divers.
