Emergency services have refloated this Wednesday the tuna boat 'Monte Arballu', sunk in Puerto Naos, in the capital of Lanzarote, on September 29 due to a water ingress that had not been repaired.
Firefighters from the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium participated in the refloating operation, having to pump out water with several pumps, in addition to a crane service, according to sources from this service.
After bringing it to the surface, it is planned to empty it of fuel and subsequently transfer it to the dry dock.
The Port Authority of Las Palmas had established a containment boom to prevent water contamination, which ultimately did not occur.
'Monte Arballu', built in 1965, is one of the six tuna boats that remained in Lanzarote's artisanal purse seine fleet, which once had about thirty, along with 'Santuario Barquereño', 'Zeruko Eregiña', 'Izar Aklde', 'Cima de Oro', and 'Ave Maria II'.
