The Arrecife Local Police intercepted last February 22 in Argana Alta during the night a driver who had crashed with his vehicle and had abandoned the scene of the accident.
The officers, who were patrolling the neighborhood, located the vehicle that had allegedly been responsible for several traffic accidents in the municipality. The location of the vehicle was carried out thanks to several witnesses providing the officers with the description of the car and alerting that the driver had abandoned the scene.
Following his alleged involvement in the accident and upon presenting "evident symptoms" of being under the influence of alcohol, the officers administered the corresponding breathalyzer test, which yielded a positive result with a rate higher than that established in the Penal Code. Likewise, he was subjected to the drug detection test, yielding a positive result, for which the corresponding administrative complaint was filed for this infraction.
During the intervention, it was also verified that the vehicle lacked the Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV) in force, proceeding to formulate the corresponding administrative complaint.
The Local Police of Arrecife, competent in traffic matters in urban areas, habitually carries out numerous checks, especially when traffic accidents occur, with the aim of clarifying their causes and assigning responsibilities.
For these facts, proceedings were instructed against that driver for an alleged crime against road safety and he was cited for the celebration of a speedy trial. Likewise, it is recorded that the investigated has previously been involved in actions of a similar nature.
