Agents of the National Police have arrested on February 3 in the Gran Canarian municipality of Telde a 37-year-old man, a registered doctor, as presumed perpetrator of two sexual assault offenses committed against two of his patients in the exercise of his professional activity

The investigations began after the complaints filed by the victims, who reported having suffered groping and sexual behavior during emergency medical consultations.According to the investigation, the detainee allegedly took advantage of his condition as a doctor and the vulnerability of the patients to commit the reported acts.

The content of the statements collected by the investigators made it possible to determine that the doctor acted with a clear abuse of his professional position, generating in the victims a state of paralysis and confusion in the face of the situation, without the capacity for immediate reaction

The police investigations have made it possible to determine that the events would have taken place in different medical consultations, not ruling out the possible existence of more victims. Likewise, it has been verified that the arrested person has a criminal record for similar events, having been previously arrested and convicted for this type of crime.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, remaining free with precautionary measures against four victims (Prohibition of communication and approach), while the investigation remains open with the objective of fully clarifying the facts and determining if there are more affected personsThe Family and Woman Care Unit (UFAM) of the Telde Local Police Station has enabled telephone numbers 928 704 137 and 928 704 139 so that anyone who may have been a victim of similar incidents can contact the investigating officers.
