An inflatable boat about ten meters long, with four people on board, ran aground on Saturday afternoon, July 25, in the El Lajero area, on the cliffs of Mala, after being previously sighted entering through La Garita beach, in Arrieta.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to La Voz de Lanzarote, around 7:00 PM the inflatable boat was seen approaching the coast. However, instead of heading towards the beach, it continued its navigation towards the rocky area of El Lajero.

The same sources have indicated that, before running aground, several packages were allegedly thrown into the sea from the boat, which could be drugs, a point that will have to be confirmed by the investigation opened by the Civil Guard.

Local Police officers, Civil Guard personnel, and members of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium have moved to the scene, intervening in the area after the incident.

For the moment, no further details have emerged about the identity of the boat's occupants or the deployed operation, while police actions continue.
