Firefighters from the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote and paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) rescued a cyclist who was run over this past Friday in Lanzarote. The events took place around 2:00 PM at one of the roundabouts on Tenderete street.
Upon notifying the emergency services of the incident, the alertors reported that the cyclist was under the vehicle. Once the firefighters arrived at the scene, the injured person had been rescued from under the car, but was still on the ground with their legs trapped in the bicycle.
Paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service were already attending to the person and, then, with the help of the firefighters, proceeded to place the injured person on a scoop stretcher and then on a vacuum mattress. Finally, he was transferred to the hospital.
This is the second accident involving a cyclist registered in the capital of Lanzarote in just 48 hours. Last Thursday, another athlete was also transferred to the hospital with a moderate head trauma, after colliding with a car in Arrecife.
