The teaching staff of the Ajei school and the San Bartolomé nursery school had a good scare on Monday morning, when they found both facilities open and realized that they had been victims of a robbery. "They have taken televisions and several computer equipment," confirmed the Councilor for Education of the City Council, Eduardo Perera.
He himself received a call at 7.30 am in which these events were reported to him. Agents of the Civil Guard and the Local Police have come to these facilities to collect data on this theft, which could have occurred at dawn. At the moment, it is unknown how many people are involved in this robbery.
Neither the school nor the nursery have security cameras, although both facilities are almost in front of the Civil Guard barracks. However, no one noticed the robbery until the employees went to their jobs.
In addition to the material that has been stolen, there has also been some damage. "They broke a fence in three places that was in a window of the Ajei school's Infant section. They knew exactly where the computer equipment was," said Perera, who assured that the Civil Guard has detected fingerprints that could be from the perpetrators of the robbery.
The Councilor for Education has explained that the locks have already been changed, because "they took a bunch of keys" and the insurance companies have also been notified. In addition, he stated that this robbery has not affected the start of the school year, since it has not occurred inside any classroom, so the children have been able to start classes normally.
