Agents of the National Police from the Local Police Station of Arrecife dismantled an important criminal organization based on the island of Lanzarote and dedicated to introducing shipments of hashish from Morocco by sea. The operation culminated on August 14, 2025, with the arrest of eight people and the seizure of 605 kilograms of hashish pollen and 75,000 euros in cash. All detainees were imprisoned by judicial order.

The investigation began in February, following an anonymous tip received through the National Police website, which warned that a house in the town of Tías was being used to distribute large quantities of hashish destined for different parts of the Canary Islands.

From the beginning of the investigation, agents from the Narcotics Group of the Arrecife Police Station corroborated the veracity of the information received, identifying the members of the network, their roles within the organization, and the addresses they frequented.

The investigations determined that the organization brought the drugs in by sea from Morocco using Zodiac-type boats, distributing part of the substance in Lanzarote and transferring the rest to the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

Records in Arrecife, Tías and Playa Honda

During the police operation, the investigators proceeded to search six homes and a warehouse located in the towns of Arrecife, Tías, and Playa Honda. Inside the warehouse, a rental vehicle was found containing 15 bundles with 575 kilograms of hashish pollen, while in the homes, an additional 30 kilograms of the same substance and 75,000 euros in cash were located.

In one of the residences, the owners of the Zodiac boat used to transport the drugs from Morocco were arrested; they were hiding in a squatted house in Playa Honda.

The value of the seized drugs exceeds one million euros.

The eight detainees were placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 3 of Arrecife, which ordered their imprisonment.
