A catamaran ran aground this Friday on the breakwater of the Marina Rubicón port of Playa Blanca, as reported by the Emergency Consortium. Apparently it was anchored but the waves and strong winds prevailing on the island released it and it went against the rocks.
Apparently, the boat capsized around 10 in the morning, but it was not until late in the afternoon when the emergency services were alerted. It was a citizen who alerted Ezequiel Navío, a specialist in the marine environment, that the catamaran had to be refloated due to the toxic substances in it, in addition to the oils and diesel it carried, the catamaran is built with PVC foam that is quite harmful to the sea.
After that alert, Ezequiel Navío called 112 and the manager of the Emergency Consortium who immediately came to the place to refloat the ship that was semi-submerged. At the moment the work has not yet finished.
Local Police officers also went to the scene.
