A jellyfish of almost one meter in length has been located this Sunday, August 10, on the beach of Playa Honda, which has led to the immediate activation of the red flag.

The finding was reported by the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium, which has asked residents and tourists to be cautious about the presence of potentially dangerous marine species.

This episode adds to another recent one on the island: the appearance, on Famara beach, of a blue dragon (Glaucus atlanticus), a small mollusk of bright colors whose toxin can cause very painful and even serious reactions in sensitive people.

Authorities recommend avoiding swimming until further notice and paying attention to signage and official warnings.
