He intended to report the loss of his National Identity Document but, upon arriving at the Police Station, J.L.R. ended up arrested. The reason is that shortly before, this 33-year-old had been reported for committing a robbery with violence and intimidation inside a cafeteria in Arrecife, where he dropped his ID before leaving the place.
According to the complaint filed with the National Police, the robbery victim was with his daughter in a cafeteria when a man approached him and "after initially having an inconsequential conversation with him", told him to "hand over all the money or he would stab him", showing him a large knife that he was hiding under his shirt.
After seizing the money, according to the complaint, the assailant fled quickly, but the victim saw how he lost a card in his escape. Upon approaching to pick it up, he verified that it was the National Document of the man who had just robbed him.
A few hours after these events occurred, the owner of the ID appeared at police facilities to report the loss of his National Identity Document, so the agents, who were aware of what had happened, proceeded to his immediate arrest.
The arrested man, who has "numerous police records" for different criminal acts, has already been brought to judicial disposition, along with the corresponding police report.
