The Civil Guard of Lanzarote has arrested two people as alleged perpetrators of a drug trafficking offense, after being intercepted in a preventive and surveillance operation established by the Civil Guard for the detection and pursuit of drug trafficking.
During the operation, the agents proceeded to stop a vehicle, carrying out the corresponding identification and verification tasks of both the occupants and the vehicle itself. Given the indications detected during the intervention, the agents carried out a search of the vehicle, locating inside it, hidden and arranged in a way that would hinder its detection, a quantity of hashish, as well as a sum of cash.
Following the location of the drug, the agents proceeded to arrest both occupants as alleged perpetrators of an offense against public health, and they were subsequently transferred to Civil Guard facilities, where the necessary proceedings were carried out to clarify the facts and an investigation was initiated to determine the possible scope of the criminal activity, as well as the origin of the substance and the destination of the seized money.
As a result of the first action and the subsequent investigations, the investigators gathered various information and collected evidence that was brought to the attention of the competent judicial authority.
The analysis of the data obtained allowed for the establishment of a possible relationship between the detainees and other places, vehicles, and effects likely to be linked to the criminal activity. Therefore, the court authorized the carrying out of several entry and search warrants in different properties and locations allegedly related to the investigated individuals.
The corresponding judicial orders were executed by Civil Guard agents, who carried out the inspections with the aim of locating new narcotic substances, cash, instruments used for their concealment, preparation or distribution, as well as any other element that could provide relevant information for the clarification of the facts.
During the development of the searches, the agents proceeded to the seizure of various items of interest for the investigation, including several telephones, including satellite communication terminals, a precision scale, various anabolic substances, and a detonating weapon, which were made available to the judicial authority.
Similarly, the agents proceeded to the seizure of a vehicle and a semi-rigid boat, considering that both means could be related to the investigated events or be of interest in determining the possible operations used by the alleged perpetrators. These items were also made available to the judiciary, pending the necessary technical and expert verifications.
The detainees, along with the proceedings initiated, were made available to the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Arrecife.
