The Civil Guard of the Las Palmas Command arrested a person on August 4 for the alleged commission of several crimes against property by committing four thefts in different hotel establishments in Playa Blanca. The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Yaiza began an investigation following a significant increase in thefts in the Yaiza police demarcation, which reached its peak in the second week of July, with four offenses occurring in just 24 hours.
The investigation accelerated after one of the victims reported to the police station that, after activating the geolocation of his stolen mobile phone, it indicated a location at a bus stop in Playa Blanca.
The Citizen Security Patrol went to the location and identified the people present at the stop, including the detainee, recovering the device which was inside his backpack, where other items related to complaints filed hours earlier were found.
Following this discovery, the agents opened a new line of investigation that allowed them to place the alleged perpetrator in the same space-time framework in which other criminal acts had been committed. The analysis of images captured by the video surveillance systems installed in the area allowed them to identify him carrying the backpack that had subsequently been recovered.
The progress of the investigation determined that the alleged perpetrator accessed the rooms of different tourist complexes taking advantage of the absence of their occupants, whom he had previously monitored to ensure they were not inside.
Likewise, investigators were able to confirm that he used public transport to move between different locations, a strategy he allegedly employed to hinder his location and subsequent arrest. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities along with the proceedings carried out.
