National Police agents belonging to the Family and Woman Care Unit (UFAM) in Las Palmas have arrested a man, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of child prostitution, following
an investigation initiated at the end of last year.
The facts came to light after the situation of a **14-year-old minor, a resident of a shelter** in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, was detected, who had allegedly been recruited through social media by the now-arrested individual.
According to the police investigation, the individual allegedly convinced the minor to have a first in-person meeting at the beginning of this year, during which sexual conduct occurred without the victim's consent
The contacts between the two continued over time through social networks, leading to up to six more meetings at the alleged perpetrator's home, located in the town of Vecindario.
The officers in charge of the investigation managed to gather sufficient evidence about the reported events and proceed to the full identification of the suspect.
As a result, on January 15, his arrest was carried out and a judicial order was obtained to search his home. During the house search, various electronic devices were seized, including a desktop computer, a laptop, four hard drives, two tablets, and two mobile phones, which will be analyzed in depth by investigators
The investigation remains open with the aim of determining the possible existence of other victims and clarifying whether the detainee could be linked to other possible offenders. Once the police proceedings were concluded, the detainee was handed over to the judicial authorities, who ordered his imprisonment.
