The SEPRONA of the Civil Guard of the Las Palmas Command has concluded an operation that resulted in the arrest on January 12 of a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of breach of sentence in the municipality of Agüimes, Gran Canaria.

The events occurred after receiving a citizen alert reporting the presence of a domestic animal at the home of a person who, allegedly, **was under a judicial prohibition** for owning animals

After initial checks, officers confirmed that the investigated individual had previously been convicted by Investigating Court number 3 of Telde as the perpetrator of an animal cruelty offense.

Said sentence, with a start date in June 2025, imposed a penalty of seven months in prison and special disqualification from owning animals for a period of two years, a measure that was to be fulfilled until June 2027.

The key line of the investigation focused on verifying judicial databases, which allowed for confirmation of the precautionary measure's validity. Immediately thereafter, the officers proceeded to the suspect's residence to verify the information received.

At the location, they confirmed that the detainee possessed a young dog, approximately three to four months old, flagrantly violating the court order. Faced with the evidence of non-compliance, the individual was immediately arrested and the dog was seized.

The animal was transferred and handed over to an animal welfare association for its care, shelter, and subsequent adoption, thus guaranteeing its well-being outside the aggressor's environment.

The proceedings initiated by SEPRONA of the Las Palmas Command have been made available to the Court of Instruction on duty in Telde.
