The Local Police of Arrecife, within its permanent surveillance of unhealthy hotspots, had under surveillance a point very close to the Dr. Molina Orosa University Hospital, in the capital of Lanzarote. That hotspot, a few steps from the annex building next to the Emergency area of the aforementioned hospital, "showed evidence of becoming unhealthy and unsafe" due to the presence of two people who were accumulating garbage in its surroundings.
Since this Thursday, with the intervention of agents of the Local Police, it has been dismantled and, in parallel, personnel from the Cleaning Area of the City Council proceeded to remove the accumulated waste.
The city's mayor, Yonathan de León, has detailed that "the Local Police is carrying out an important deployment, sometimes with undercover cars, to avoid insecurity and inconvenience for the residents of the capital, who are making contributions and testimonies that help the Police in their investigations."
As is known, in recent months the Local Police has closed eleven smoking dens, and is reinforcing assistance to prevent violent occupations of properties. Yonathan de León has detailed that "our Local Police will remain vigilant to ensure that Arrecife is a safe city without hotspots of insecurity and unsanitary conditions for residents and passersby."
The City Council informs that the city of Arrecife offers, within the municipal assistance services, a shelter and a soup kitchen.
