The Local Police of Arrecife has launched a new crane service that operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This service, which the city of Arrecife lacked, will allow agents to immediately proceed with the removal of illegally parked vehicles, or those that violate municipal ordinances, and the provisions of the Traffic Law, Motor Vehicle Circulation and Road Safety.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, presented this new municipal service together with the deputy commissioner chief of the Local Police of Arrecife, José Antonio Lasso. The municipal crane can be requested by the owners of the fords when they see that there are vehicles that prevent access to their respective authorized garages.
Yonathan de León, who is also the direct head of the Local Police, has emphasized that until now there were "many damages" that were caused to citizens because the Arrecife City Council did not have a municipal service operating 24 hours a day.
New vehicle depot
Along with the commissioning of this new municipal crane service, the Arrecife City Council has also launched new facilities for the depot of vehicles removed from public roads. The City Council has awarded this contract, which allows the city to have a depot with 1000 square meters of useful surface area and will have personal attention between 07:00 and 21:00 hours, according to the technical and administrative specifications.
The contract establishes a duration of one year, extendable for annual periods, and a maximum of four years. The depot will be in service 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For this, its schedule is established as follows:
From Monday to Friday: with face-to-face attention, established between 07:00 and 21:00 hours, and the rest of the hours from Monday to Friday, weekends and holidays: with prior notice through the Local Police.
The opening of this depot will allow the Local Police of Arrecife to remove cars, scooters and bicycles that violate municipal ordinances and traffic regulations from public roads.
The Local Police of Arrecife has had new vehicles, technological equipment and systems in recent months that allow them to better serve citizens. Mayor Yonathan de León has remarked that one of his objectives when he assumed the mayoralty in July 2023 was to professionalize local police resources with more personnel and resources, as he is achieving.
