The Arrecife City Council has reported that there is an ongoing investigation to determine who is the author or authors of the theft of the electrical supply wiring in the public lighting network of several streets in the Las Salinas neighborhood, in the capital of Lanzarote.

For several days, different areas of the Las Salinas neighborhood have been without night lighting in public lighting. The causes of this "blackout" originate in the theft of wiring from the new lampposts.

The City Council makes an appeal to citizen collaboration in the face of these acts of vandalism, so that they can offer information about the perpetrators. And it is also requested that, in the event of any minimal suspicion of theft, the police forces, Local Police and National Police, be alerted.

The entire new public lighting network in these streets of Las Salinas is newly installed. Now, after the theft, the stolen material must be re-channeled so that the lampposts can illuminate the roads at night, an area where residential buildings and public facilities of Arrecife predominate.

According to reports, similar robberies are recently being recorded in other areas of the island and the Archipelago, as well as in the Peninsula.
