A vandalic act in the CEIP Los Geranios, located in the Altavista neighborhood (Arrecife), has forced to relocate the students from several classrooms and has left one of the classrooms of the educational center charred, specifically, the one intended for Infant students.
As reported by the manager of the Security and Emergencies Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, it was the cleaning staff of the center who contacted the Emergency services at 7:20 AM this Tuesday morning, alerting that several facilities of the educational center had been vandalized.
The Councilor for Education of Arrecife, Abigail González, who has moved early in the morning to the school, has reported that the Judicial Police is in charge of analyzing the vandalized spaces with the aim of identifying those responsible. For the moment, the municipal hypothesis is that it is a numerous group, although it will be necessary to wait for the investigations of the Policía Nacional to advance.
Regarding the damage caused, one of the classrooms, that of the Infant students, has taken the worst part, with the educational furniture, especially tables and chairs, totally incinerated. The fire caused in this dependency has also flooded the adjoining classrooms with smoke and has forced the mobilization of cleaning services and municipal services to air out the area. The students have been relocated to other classrooms upon their arrival at the center.
Upon the arrival of the firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium at the scene, there were no longer flames, but the educational space was affected by smoke. In addition to the fire in one of the classrooms, the blackboards and furniture have also been vandalized with paint, furthermore, they have destroyed the dining room facilities, throwing food.
To the place also has moved the Policía Local of Arrecife and the Policía Nacional, responsible for the investigation.
