A worker dies of electrocution in a hotel in Costa Teguise

A worker died at noon this Tuesday at the Beatriz Hotel in Costa Teguise, after suffering an electric shock. After the event, his colleagues notified 112 and a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service went to the scene, but nothing could be done to save his life.

The deceased, Sebastián Miguel Nuez Quintino, was 51 years old and leaves behind a wife and two children. According to sources close to him, he had been working in this hotel establishment for 18 years, in the maintenance area.

When the events occurred, the worker was repairing an industrial washing machine. Specifically, he was manipulating the exterior metal panel when he suffered the shock that cost him his life.

After the accident, agents of the Local Police of Teguise and the Civil Guard also went to the hotel. As it was a work accident, the Court has been notified to open the corresponding proceedings.

The investigation is being carried out by the territorial team of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise. According to this body, the Labor Inspectorate must now determine if there was "any type of irregularity" to trigger the event or if it was due to fortuitous causes.
