The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium reported this Saturday the closure to bathing of the beach in the town of Playa Blanca due to fecal water contamination.
In a statement, the Consortium indicated that access to the beach has been sealed off until the health authorities allow bathing again. The lifeguards have stayed to warn users.
Consortium sources told EFE that the spills are due to a problem originating at the pumping station and that operators from the company Canal Gestión are working to repair the fault.
