Firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium rescued a paratrooper who fell from a hang glider in a mountainous area near the Mirador del Río this past Wednesday, December 4.
Alerted by the Emergency Coordination Center (CECOES), the firefighters went to the scene and searched for the injured person. The paraglider, a 67-year-old man, was in a difficult to access area.
For his rescue, the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium required a rescue helicopter from the Canary Islands Government. This helicopter transported the injured man to the airport, from where he was then transferred to the health services.
