When Civil Protection arrived at the scene, he was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Resuscitation maneuvers continued in the helicopter in which he was evacuated, but were unsuccessful.

A paraglider dies after falling in the Playa Quemada area

A man in his 40s died this Tuesday after falling with his paraglider in the Playa Quemada area, in the municipality of Yaiza. The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m., when the accident was reported.

According to the Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies, the first to arrive at the scene were Civil Protection personnel, who accessed the area in a 4×4 vehicle. After locating the paraglider, they found that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest and began to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of the GES helicopter team.

Afterwards, the victim was evacuated to the helipad near the Arrecife Fire Department while resuscitation maneuvers continued in the helicopter, but these were unsuccessful.

Also participating in the intervention were personnel from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium and the Canary Emergency Service, as well as agents from the Local Police and the Civil Guard.
