Civil Guard agents intervened during the early hours of last Saturday a machete, a knife and a multi-purpose knife in one of the rooms of the La Santa shelter. This space has been used for months for the accommodation of unaccompanied migrant minors due to the lack of fixed resources on the islands and came to house more than a hundred minors at the end of 2023.

According to La Voz, in the early hours of last Saturday the caretakers of the center called the Civil Guard after three of the minors living in the place arrived late at night, arguing among themselves while allegedly carrying a large machete. The workers of the center, fearing that something might happen, decided to call the Civil Guard.

Two Civil Guard patrols went to the scene. According to this editorial staff, these three minors had also been involved in the commission of alleged thefts and mobile phone theft in different locations on the island.

This space has only three caretakers who must ensure the care of more than a hundred minors. This motivates some users of the center not to respect the rules and harm the rest of the children and adolescents, as well as the workers.

The agents have transferred the proceedings to the Prosecutor's Office for Minors, but there are no minors detained for these findings.
