Flight to Gran Canaria diverted to Lanzarote due to smoke in the plane

A Vueling flight between Málaga and Gran Canaria had to be diverted on the morning of Tuesday, April 15th to Lanzarote due to an incident.

According to the official Air Traffic Controllers account on X (formerly Twitter), the flight crew reported that they needed to divert to the island of volcanoes due to a "possible presence of smoke" in the plane.

The controllers facilitated a "continuous descent" and a "direct approach with priority" to runway number three of the island airfield and cleared any traffic that could affect its landing.

Finally, the plane touched down at 7:33 a.m. in Lanzarote, although it should have done so at 8:00 a.m. on the neighboring island of Gran Canaria. Upon arrival at the airport, firefighters supervised its landing.
