A 17-year-old minor was injured after being hit by a wheel detached from a car in a traffic accident that occurred in the Argana Alta neighborhood in the early hours of Sunday. The driver, a 24-year-old man, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, according to police sources to La Voz.
Apparently, the driver lost control of his vehicle, colliding with several cars parked in the area. After hitting a curb, a wheel of the car came off and hit the minor, who was walking on the sidewalk at that time. Despite losing a wheel, the driver continued his trajectory, going around the block, before crashing into several homes and other vehicles, and finally ending up embedded against a post on the public road.
The injured minor was transferred to the Molina Orosa hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. In addition to the minor, the accident caused damage to eight vehicles and two homes.
The driver has been summoned for a quick trial without detainees for the charge of two alleged crimes, one of them, driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcoholic beverages with a rate higher than 0.60 and another, for reckless driving.
The work of the Traffic agents
The Traffic Unit, especially the motorcyclists, are an important link in the structure of the Local Police of the capital. Their daily work focuses mainly on traffic management, surveillance and prevention of traffic violations. Their active presence in strategic points helps to reduce the risk of accidents and maintain their fluidity.
But their role is fundamental when a traffic accident occurs. The rapid arrival and the collection of data, such as that carried out in the previous event, at the scene of the accident are of vital importance for the clarification of the incident.
The information collected constitutes the basis for determining the causes of the event: identifying possible violations of traffic regulations and establishing legal responsibilities. A meticulous collection of details such as the location of the vehicles involved, pavement conditions, road signs and witness statements serve to reconstruct the facts with precision.
Depending on the severity of the accident, motorcyclists also play a crucial role in coordinating the police response. When the incident is more complex (commission of crimes) or cases of serious injuries or deaths, priority is given to the intervention of the accident report team. These teams, specialized in the investigation of traffic accidents, have the resources and knowledge necessary to carry out a thorough investigation, using advanced techniques.
In these cases, they act as links between the scene of the accident and the accident report team, facilitating the transmission of relevant information and guaranteeing the integrity of the investigation process.
