Agents from the Main Post of Yaiza have managed to clarify 17 crimes of robbery and theft committed in Playa Blanca, after arresting a couple allegedly involved in a wave of thefts in tourist complexes and shops in the area. The events, which had generated some concern among residents and tourists, motivated an investigation initiated in early April due to the sudden increase in this type of crime.

The arrested individuals took advantage of the absence of guests to access their rooms and steal valuables. Thanks to the video surveillance images and the collaboration of the Yaiza Local Police Drone Unit, the woman was located and arrested in the vicinity of the place. At the time of her arrest, mobile phones, money, clothing, cosmetics, and perfumery products were recovered.

In the days following that first incident, the other perpetrator, who was fully identified, had fled, but continued to perpetrate several illegal acts alone until being detected by an agent of the Main Post of Yaiza, off duty, who after requesting support from his colleagues proceeded to his arrest. In addition, continuing with the efforts, a series of indications are collected based on the analysis of the security cameras of several shops in Playa Blanca and Puerto de Carmen, verifying that the perpetrators had made fraudulent use of several stolen bank cards, thus reinforcing the evidence of their involvement in the investigated events.

After conducting a series of police investigations, it is confirmed that these two people are one of the most active criminal couples in Fuerteventura, being attributed to them another twenty property crimes on that island. Therefore, the Civil Guard Units of Fuerteventura interested in the arrests made were informed, being subsequently arrested again, reflecting with this the collaboration and coordination between the different Units of the Civil Guard.

With the formalization of the arrest of both subjects, the security and the feeling of tranquility that characterizes Lanzarote is restored, a task that has been recognized by the hotel sector, thanking the speed and the result of the actions of the Armed Institute.

Of the facts, the appropriate proceedings have been instructed and are sent to the Investigating Court of Arrecife.
