A paraglider has been injured this Tuesday after suffering an accident in the vicinity of the Guardilama mountain, in the municipality of Yaiza. The helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) had to intervene in the rescue, as it is a difficult area to access. The device also involved personnel from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the Local Police, the Civil Guard and Civil Protection.
The injured man is a 65-year-old man who, at the initial moment of assistance, presented multiple injuries of a less serious nature, so he has been transferred in a medicalized SUC ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa hospital.
The event took place at 4:50 p.m., when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting that a paraglider had fallen in the Montaña Guardilama area and was injured.
The GES helicopter, in collaboration with the firefighters of the Consortium and Civil Protection, was in charge of rescuing the injured person and making him available to the Canary Emergency Service. After assessing and immobilizing the injured person, the medical personnel transferred him to the hospital.
