A 41-year-old foreign national died this Thursday in a tragic accident while practicing apnea in the El Poril area of the port of La Tiñosa.
The incident apparently occurred when a boat ran over the victim, who was submerged at the time.
According to La Provincia, although the freediver had an orange buoy and a flag signaling his position in the sea, however, according to initial indications, the driver of the zodiac did not notice his presence and ran over him, causing his death.
The event took place around 6:20 p.m., when CECOES was alerted. Agents from the Civil Guard, the Local Police and Emerlan have traveled to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the man in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite the efforts of the paramedics, who performed resuscitation maneuvers, they were unable to reverse the situation.
Police officers have taken charge of the proceedings to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
According to sources from the Civil Guard, no one has been arrested for this incident at the moment, as the circumstances of the death are still being investigated. For the moment, the proceedings are judicialized.
