Emergency services rescued this Wednesday morning a 72-year-old woman who became trapped in the mud of the Charco de San Ginés, in Arrecife, according to Emerlan.

The events occurred at 11:10 a.m., at which time the CECOES received a call from a pedestrian alerting them to the incident.

Local Police officers, firefighters, Emerlan volunteers, and health personnel immediately went to the scene, where they found the woman trapped, conscious and apparently oriented.

The affected woman accessed the pond from the bridge located next to the street where Bar Ginorys is located, but after going several meters into the marsh and coinciding with low tide, she became trapped up to her knees in the mud at the bottom.

Firefighters managed to free the woman and evacuate her through the opposite side of the access area, near the roundabout entrance to the Marina de Arrecife.

Once rescued, health personnel carried out a health assessment and took her vital signs. Although the patient did not present visible injuries or bruises, she suffered from lumbar pain which also caused her leg discomfort.

Therefore, after being stabilized, she was transferred to the Emergency Department of the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for medical evaluation.
