A 23-year-old Belgian man has died after falling from a balcony of a hotel in Puerto de la Cruz, in Tenerife, the Canary Islands emergency coordination center has reported.
Police sources have told EFE that one of the hypotheses being considered regarding the cause of the accident is that the young man fell while trying to escape a fire that broke out in the room where he was staying.
According to 112 [emergency services], the incident occurred at 9:00 p.m. this Wednesday when a fire was reported at a hotel, which was evacuated as a precaution.
It was also reported that a person had fallen from the balcony, but the emergency health services could only confirm their death.
The National Police have taken charge of the investigation.
