National Police agents from Arrecife have arrested two men, 47 and 48 years old, accused of drug trafficking, after seizing 20 kilograms of cocaine and more than 116,000 euros in cash in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote.
The investigation began on September 2, when a school in Costa Teguise alerted authorities about the suspicious presence of a motorhome parked in its parking lot. The warning occurred coinciding with the start of the school year, which increased the concern of the teaching staff.
According to police sources, agents from the Narcotics Group detected that an individual with a history of drug trafficking visited the motorhome daily, delivering backpacks and bags to the occupant of the vehicle.
With the corresponding judicial authorization, the agents proceeded to search the motorhome and the home of one of the suspects. As a result, 20 kilos of cocaine were seized, with an estimated market value of more than 700,000 euros, as well as more than 116,000 euros in cash.
After their arrest, the two involved were brought to judicial disposition and, after testifying, the judge ordered their immediate imprisonment.
