Yaiza celebrates a music gathering in honor of Our Lady of Los Remedios

The music became prayer and homage to the Virgin of Los Remedios, strengthening the bonds between culture, faith and community

Encuentro de música

Within the framework of the patron saint festivities in honor of Our Lady of Los Remedios, the community of Yaiza experienced an afternoon of profound emotion and artistic beauty with the celebration of the Sacred Music Encounter, an event that brought together voices, instruments and faith in an incomparable setting; the church of Los Remedios, an architectural jewel of the 17th century.

Organized by the Vocal Group of Yaiza, the concert took place on Sunday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m., with the allowed capacity of the public that filled the temple to enjoy an evening of high interpretive level. Founded in 2000 thanks to the initiative of the Department of Culture of the City Council of Yaiza, this choral group has established itself as a cultural reference in Lanzarote, preserving the tradition of choral singing among the inhabitants of the southern municipality.

The performance was directed by Professor Nuvi Tavio, who led the Vocal Group of Yaiza in a careful repertoire of sacred works. The concert opened with a heartfelt interpretation of the Kyrie Eleison by Marco Frisina, followed by the emotional Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Webber and a magnificent version of Stabat Mater by Zoltán Kodály, pieces that demonstrated the sensitivity, technique and cohesion of the vocal ensemble.

The concert continued with the participation of the Sacred Music Trio, formed by Javier Díaz (piano), Diego Bermúdez (violin), and Iva Zhmaeva (violin), who delighted the audience with works such as the Exsultate, Jubilate and Church Sonota by Mozart, among other compositions that completed a vibrant and spiritual repertoire.

Singing in the church of Ntra. Sra. de los Remedios is, for any choral group, a true privilege. Not only for its symbolic charge when doing so before the image of the patron saint of Yaiza, but also for the extraordinary acoustics of the temple, which enhances each note and nuance, making it an ideal space for sacred music.

The public responded with warm applause to each interpretation, thanking the dedication and talent of the participants: without a doubt, it was a concert at a great height in a unique place, where the music became prayer and homage to the Virgin of Los Remedios, strengthening the bonds between culture, faith and community.
