Cameras, spotlights, actors and extras have become part of life in Lanzarote in recent weeks. And, up to four film and television series shoots have coincided on the island, whose landscapes have once again become a natural set.
In addition to the Netflix series 'Welcome to Eden', the island has also hosted the filming of the series 'Foundation', based on the work of Isaac Asimov and which is one of the releases planned by the Apple TV platform for this year. The filming team of this last series finished their work on the island this Thursday, where they have been filming for a week, and the 'Welcome to Eden' team will do so this Friday, after three weeks of filming.
However, until the end of the month, the films 'Maret' and 'The Family' will continue to be shot in Lanzarote. The latter, by the German director Sönke Worthmann, will be shot almost entirely on the island and is therefore the one that plans to spend the most time, a total of six weeks, after landing in Lanzarote in mid-February.
Caleta de Famara, Charco del Palo and other locations
As for the film 'Maret', by the Luxembourgish director Laura Schroeder, its filming in Lanzarote started on March 1 and this Thursday it was in Caleta de Famara. There, La Voz was able to verify that they were filming in the house of César Manrique's brother and that they had installed a catering service in the town's sports courts.
For its part, in the Charco del Palo area, the filming of 'Welcome to Eden' was taking place this Thursday, which has also toured places such as Playa Chica and the Teseguite rofera in recent weeks.
La Geria, Playa Bermeja, Caletón Blanco or the airport have been other places on the island where some of these four shoots have taken place, which have even left some anecdotes, such as the one that was mistaken for a boat in Playa Honda, generating a "false alarm".
