Thousands of people enjoyed the colorful Coso of the Arrecife Carnival 2025 this Monday, one of the most anticipated events of the program prepared to celebrate the carnival by the Department of Celebrations of the Arrecife City Council led by the Deputy Mayor, Echedey Eugenio, in which fun and fantasy were lavished in abundance.
A Coso that was respected by the climate, followed by a large audience and that ran from the Red Cross Roundabout to the Agramar Enclosure at the height of Avenida de Naos, which became a musical space starring the finally 25 participating floats that offered music and entertainment to the hundreds of masquerades that supported them.
Among them 'Starred in the Agramar Jungle', winner of the Floats Contest, followed by 'Aladin The Film' and 'Mad Max'. It is the case that for the first time a contest was also called for floats smaller than 6 meters but it was declared void as none were presented.
The remaining participating floats were 'The Flintstones', 'La Jequer del Liki', 'Ancient Egypt', 'The War of the Galaxy', 'Kun Fu Panda', 'The Circus', 'The Children of Nefertiti', 'The Minions', 'Catarina', 'Alice in Las Quemadas' 'School Bus', 'The Tea of Concord', 'Labyrinth of the Faun' and 'Happy Camper'.
The floats of the City Councils of Yaiza, 'México Lindo', also participated in the Coso, although out of competition; Teguise, 'The World of Television'; and Tinajo, 'Pirates-Corsairs'. In addition, the Arrecife City Council presented five other floats, including the Queen of Carnival, Vanesa Cumber, and the Children's Queen, Suhaila Bouddih Hernández.
The afilarmónicas Las Revoltosas and Los Simplones, and the adult murgas Los Intoxicados, Las Inadaptadas, Las Enraladas, Las Faltonas, Los Desahuciados, Las Vacilonas and Los Tabletúos, as well as the children's murgas Los Intoxicaditos, Los Noveleros, Los Chau-Chau and Los Titiñecos, also formed part of the parade.
Los Buches
At the head of it, the members of the traditional Parranda Marinera de Los Buches offering buchasos to anyone who stood next to them, and moving throughout its route another traditional group of the Lanzarote Carnival such as the Diabletes de Teguise, shouting, chasing and also scaring the public present.
Along with hundreds of masquerades that jumped and hesitated a lot, the comparsas Sur Caliente, Los Cumbacheros, Los Timanfeiros, Los Guaracheros and Los Yaiseros also gave rhythm to the route with their sounds and elaborate choreographies; as well as the batucadas Menuda Caña, Chimbay, Villa Pipol, Princesa Attenya and Ritmos del Sur.
All these groups, together with the masquerades and other carnival characters, among which the presence of no less than two world leaders such as the presidents of the USA and Russia, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, as well as the traditional Charlot and the Vieja del Perejil, among others, made the Coso of the Arrecife Carnival shine to the height that the third capital of the Canary Islands deserves.
It should be noted that the Arrecife City Council enabled two areas so that both people with reduced mobility and the elderly, as well as those with special sensory abilities, could fully enjoy the parade depending on their characteristics, in the latter case reducing the sound emission to the maximum as they passed.
