The Traslación Festival celebrates its seventh edition from October 29 to November 9 with a tour of six municipalities of Lanzarote and its expansion this year to La Graciosa and Fuerteventura. Since its creation in 2018, this festival has transformed the island territory into a living stage for contemporary dance.
Under the direction of Acerina H. Toledo and the production of gestionART-e and El Jablero Cía. Danza, the festival proposes a dialogue between body, landscape, and heritage. More than 30 Canarian and national proposals will be presented in emblematic enclaves of Arrecife, Teguise, San Bartolomé, Haría, Tías, Yaiza, and La Graciosa, as well as Fuerteventura, where it already landed a few weeks ago.
Dance in Unconventional Spaces
The festival's objective is to bring dance to unconventional spaces and make it accessible to all audiences. For this reason, the performances take place in streets, squares, and natural environments. The program combines local, regional, and national creations that reveal the richness of languages and sensibilities within contemporary dance.
Social commitment
The festival reinforces its commitment to the active participation of the community through projects that use dance as a tool for encounter and collective expression. In Mareas Encontradas, users of Adislan and the Cabildo de Lanzarote's Addiction Network share process and stage in a creation that values diversity and listening.
In Humanidad, a group of women over 60 years old addresses the experience of migration while claiming the wisdom of older bodies as spaces of memory and coexistence.
Sustainable Festival
Traslación is also committed to sustainability. Measures are applied for water saving, waste reduction, the use of renewable energies, sustainable mobility, and the hiring of responsible suppliers.
The Traslación Dance Festival is a festival produced and organized by GestionArt-e and El Jablero Cía.
