The Teguise City Council, in collaboration with the Cabildo of Lanzarote, presented the program of activities of the Timple House Museum with which a season of cultural activities aimed at residents and visitors will begin. The Mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, the Councilor for Culture, Javier Díaz, and the Island Councilor for Culture, Jesús Machín, were present at the event.
During her speech, Olivia Duque thanked "the collaboration of the Cabildo of Lanzarote to be able to resume the activity of this important cultural space of Teguise." "With this program, the municipality wants to "disseminate and protect our cultural wealth", through the "inclusion and recognition of all those people and institutions that contribute to keeping our identity and our history alive," she said. She added that the city council wants to "turn the Timple House Museum into a meeting point for lovers of culture and Canarian tradition."
For his part, the Island Councilor for Culture alluded to the "importance of the timple as a symbol of Canarian identity" and insisted that "it is an honor to contribute to a project that values our cultural heritage and promotes artistic diversity through this instrument."
Likewise, the Councilor for Culture, Javier Díaz, detailed the museum's program for the year, highlighting the "variety of activities" that include everything from musical shows to initiatives to declare certain cultural elements as World Heritage. "We are committed to offering a quality program that celebrates both established artists and new talents, ensuring that the legacy of the timple continues to inspire future generations."
Program
The program begins on Friday, March 22 with the show 'Allá cuelga mi vestido', by Folk Canaria de Miguel Alfonso. The next show will be on Friday, April 5 with the performance of Hirahi Afonso, entitled 'Lo puro'. Both will be in the Convent of Santo Domingo.
The young voices of the timple, Aarón Vera, Sofía Pérez and Norberto Arrocha, will offer a recital on Friday, April 26, at the Timple House-Museum, while the musical group Soul Sanet will perform on May 10 at the Convent.
The next performance included in the program will be starring Bio Ritmos, who will perform on Friday, June 14 at the Amphitheater of Las Cucharas Beach, in Costa Teguise. On Friday, September 20, in the Plaza de la Constitución de Teguise, the concert 'Voces del Patrimonio' will take place.
On Friday, October 18, Abraham Ramos Trío will perform with the show 'Raíces', designed to highlight the cultural richness of the island and begin the process for its recognition as cultural heritage. It will be in the Timple House-Museum, where the Piélago show will also be offered on Friday, November 15.
The cultural program will close on Sunday, December 15 with the concert 'Menudos timplistas', in the Convent of Santo Domingo and will feature the participation of young promises of the timple.
This ambitious program reflects the joint effort of public institutions and the sponsorship of companies such as Binter and Cicar, in addition to the participation of the cultural community of Teguise.
