Acatife closing Christmas Isleña

The Acatife Popular Music Group from Teguise closed "Isleña Christmas" last Friday night at the municipal theater of Tías, participating in the "XIX of the Solidarity Tree" organized by the Guágaro Musical Cultural Association of Tías.

Acatife, as it has been doing every Christmas, dedicates its musical repertoire to carols with lyrics of its own and music with Canarian roots, and in some of them accompanied by the chords of folías, seguidillas or isas, such as Christmas at Sea, The Shepherds are Coming, Born in the Canary Islands, among others. Acatife is already working to present the program of events that will take place next year on the occasion of its "40th Anniversary", in which they will present their latest album "My Town and César", recorded live in the Auditorium of Los Jameos del Agua. The 25 members of Acatife were musically directed by Ito Hernández, always attentive to every musical movement, and the public rewarded them with their applause.

Secondly, the organizers of the event took to the stage, the Guágaro Musical Cultural Association of Tías, directed musically by Christian Morales. Guagaro began its performance to the rhythm of malagueña followed by the traditional Campesina, both compositions with lyrics alluding to Christmas, giving way to the palmero carol "El Nacimiento", Esta noche es noche Buena" and the traditional bolero with Christmas roots versioned by many singers entitled "Navidad". The 23 members, mostly women, gave it their all on such a special night. At the end of her performance, the president, Emma Soto, addressed the public to thank them for their presence one more year and for their collaboration in providing toys for the most needy children, which will be distributed by the Department of Social Services of the Tías City Council.

Next it was the turn of the El Pavón Popular Music Group of Tías, directed by Professor Mel Reyes, giving the best of themselves. They performed a very varied repertoire with songs typical of Christmas such as Ven conmigo Pastorcillo, El burrito Manuel, Pastor Palmero, Ya nació Jesús etc. The very animated public responded to their songs by clapping and singing some other chorus, putting the finishing touch to the XIX Edition of the Solidarity Tree
