Like every year, thousands of Lanzarote residents march today, the day of the romería in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows, towards Mancha Blanca. The pilgrims come to the church square to pay homage and present their offering to the Virgin with carts decorated with palm leaves and full of food.

The festivity of Our Lady of Sorrows, also known as the Virgin of the Volcanoes, commemorates the miracle that occurred in April 1736, when, according to tradition, the lava from a volcanic eruption that threatened the towns of Mancha Blanca and Tinajo receded before the presence of the Virgin.

Baile del Romero

After the arrival of the pilgrims to the Plaza de Los Dolores and the offering to the Virgin, the festive day will continue from 7:00 p.m. with the traditional Baile del Romero, a musical event where you can enjoy the performances of several local and other island parrandas.

Among the participating groups in this edition are Parranda Guantesive, Son del Norte, El Golpito and Pa’l Porrón from Lanzarote, along with Parranda El Callao from Fuerteventura and Parranda Pa’lante from Gran Canaria.
