The residents of the town of Soo celebrated the festival of their patron saint, San Juan Bautista. The parishioners arrived on time for the appointment at the church and, as tradition dictates, wearing new dresses and shoes.
At 6:00 p.m. the celebration of the solemn Eucharist began, presided over by the parish priest of Tiagua, Rafael Tejera Parrilla, who was also in charge of directing the songs for the celebration, surrounded by the parishioners who filled the church's capacity.
Once the solemn Eucharist was over, the image of San Juan Bautista was carried on the shoulders by the residents of the town, a procession led by the Teguiband music band from La Villa de Teguise. In addition, the municipal authorities attended the event, such as the mayor, Olivia Duque, the celebrating priest, and the parishioners walked along one of the streets near the church.
Upon returning, next to the portico of the church, San Juan Bautista was welcomed by the members of the Guanapay Folklore Group of Teguise, who were in charge of making the offering, offering them traditional songs and dances such as seguidillas, folias, sorondongo and isa, which were greatly applauded by the public present, thus putting the finishing touch to the festival of San Juan Bautista, patron saint of the town of Soo.
