The town of Mácher celebrated the festivity of its patron saint San Pedro. At 6:00 p.m., the neighbors gathered at the church to participate in the Eucharist and, as tradition dictates, completed the allowed capacity and some followed the homily next to the portico.
The celebration was presided over by the parish priest of Tías, Leonardo Graterol, assisted by Adrián Sosa, former parish priest of Tías and in charge of preaching the Homily based on the life of the apostle Peter. The songs were enlivened by the Marina de Puerto del Carmen Choir, directed by Professor Miguel Ángel Cabrera.
The Eucharist ended with the reading of a poem dedicated to San Pedro in the voice of the neighbor Juan Saavedra, a gift from her sister Queta to the town of Mácher. After the Eucharist, the procession began, headed by the Music Band La Unión Musical de Lanzarote, directed by Professor Pepe Artiles.
Next, the image of San Pedro, the celebrating priests, the municipal authorities presided over by the Mayor of the Tías City Council, José Juan Cruz, and the parishioners. Upon returning to the souk of the tent installed next to the Socio-Cultural Center, the Rubicón Folk Group of the municipality of Yaiza made an offering to San Pedro with the most traditional of Canarian songs and dances such as folías, sorondongos and malagueñas. The performance was highly applauded by the public. Finally, the image of San Pedro returned to the church with the ringing of the bells and the applause of the parishioners.
