The parish of San Ginés inaugurated its Nativity Scene last Thursday at 7:30 p.m., coinciding with the celebration of the Eucharist that was presided over by the parish priest of the church of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina.
A celebration where, during this time of Advent, the Christmas songs and readings, like the Gospel, were related to how the Catholic Community prepares for the birth of Jesus. After the Eucharist, the team of collaborators slid the curtains that covered the Nativity Scene so that the parish priest could bless it and gratefully thank the Hernández Fuentes family. Once again, the celebration was directed by Francisco Hernández.
The design of the Nativity Scene, as the parish priest Juan Carlos said, helps to contemplate the mystery of the birth of the Lord to which typical elements of Lanzarote have also been added. Next, the Parish Choir and the group of Catechesis children, directed in the musical part by Professor José Juan López Umpierrez, performed two Christmas carols: 'Sing my child Sing' and 'The Mule', also featuring the performance of the musical group 'Alborada Encarnación Rodríguez', directed by the teachers, Luisa Cedrés and Loli Luzardo.
A group that was performing traditional Christmas carols, such as 'In the Middle of the Night', 'Christmas Arrives', 'Searching in Bethlehem' and ended its performance with the Christmas carol with Canarian roots 'God is Born in the Canary Islands'. Afterwards, they received great applause from the parishioners.
The religious celebration with a Christmas flavor ended with the performance of the Parish Choir. The Catechesis Children were very animated and with the accompaniment of the public, they continued singing the most popular Christmas carols of these holidays.
