After the lapse forced by the pandemic, the social and cultural association for women, 'Mararía' has resumed one of its most significant cultural proposals, the 'Elisa Betancort Delgado painting contest', which celebrates its fourth edition this year. On this occasion, the organization has had the collaboration and sponsorship of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers (CACT) of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, within the framework of its role in promoting and supporting local artists.

The main novelties of the contest will be presented by the president of Mararía, Nieves Rosa Hernández, and the commissioner, Lana Corujo, during the opening ceremony of the exhibition, in which the jury's decision will be announced. The event with a gender perspective will be on Friday starting at 7:00 p.m. in the 'El mirador' room of the Islote de la Fermina in Arrecife.

The exhibition can be visited until September 28, from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In its most ambitious edition, the contest incorporates guided tours, by the cultural manager Juan David Machado, on September 13 and 20 at 12:00 p.m., for which you can register in advance through the following telephone number: 928 804834. Attendance to the round table 'Life and work of Elisa Betancort Delgado' must also be arranged in this way, on Thursday 21 at 7:00 p.m.

The initiative pays tribute to the Lanzarote painter and active volunteer collaborator of 'Mararía', who died in November 2014. Her "disinterested technical and artistic advice was an unbeatable stimulus to the cultural work of the feminist entity for many years." Furthermore, this is the "first occasion" in which cash prizes are awarded, which will be presented in the coming dates.
