Cuban artist Chucho Valdés will be the star of what promises to be an unforgettable night at the Jameos del Agua Auditorium. The Caribbean pianist, composer and arranger will take to the stage to give the public "Chucho Valdés & Irakere 50", a concert with which he begins the tour with which he pays tribute to this iconic Cuban band, whose influence revolutionized the world of Latin jazz. The event will be on July 6, at 8:30 p.m.
With 7 Grammy Awards, 6 Latin Grammy Awards and the Latin Recording Academy's Award for Musical Excellence, Chucho Valdés has left an indelible mark on the world music scene. Recently, he was awarded a Grammy for his work on "Mirror Mirror", an album recorded with pianists Eliane Elías and the sadly deceased Chick Corea. In addition, he received a Latin Grammy for the album "I Missed You Too", a collaboration with master saxophonist and clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera, a lifelong friend and colleague in the influential band Irakere.
The counselor of the Tourist Centers, Ángel Vázquez, encourages citizens to attend this event "to enjoy the rhythm of a man who is synonymous with art and history in the world of music."
Chucho Valdés will bring his boundless talent and all his energy to the island as part of the renowned Canarias Jazz & Más International Festival.
