The management of the Classical Orchestra of Lanzarote celebrated last Saturday night the third 'Lyrical Concert', suspended during the past Christmas holidays due to the traffic accident suffered by the pianist Elías Romero, who is recovering favorably.
The House of Culture Agustín de la Hoz was the stage for this concert, which started at 8 p.m., and in which the musical part was in charge of the piano teacher Nauzet Mederos, who has offered numerous concerts as a soloist and accompanist in the island's geography, as well as recitals as an accompanying pianist in countries such as Ireland, Hungary, France and Germany, etc.
The concert consisted of two parts, the first of an operatic nature with a very select selection, in which the prestigious soprano Judith Pezoa and the also outstanding tenor Gustavo Peña displayed their great professionalism with a one-on-one, conquering the numerous public that filled the capacity of the House of Culture Agustín de la Hoz.
Judith Pezoa has a long history on the most prestigious stages of the Canary Islands, the peninsula and part of Europe, and is currently a professor at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid.
For his part, Gustavo Peña has a great concert and operatic activity recognized nationally and internationally. In one of the many trips he has carried out, he had the opportunity to go with the San Ginés Polyphonic Choir to an audience with Pope John Paul.
For the second part of the concert, Judith and Gustavo performed a repertoire dedicated to the zarzuela genre, choosing among other fragments 'No puede ser' from Tabernera del Puerto or 'Torero quiero ser' from the well-known zarzuela El Gato Montés. Judith and Gustavo staged a picaresque scene, getting the audience, standing, to applaud them and ask for another piece. The concert ended with an encore entitled 'Caballero del alto plumero de la zarzuela Luisa Fernanda.
