This morning the official presentation of the second edition of the performing arts festival 'Heart' was held, an event designed for young and old that promises to make the Playa Honda promenade, Santa Elena square and Calle Mayor beat stronger than ever from October 20 to 22.
This year, 'Heart' surpasses itself with a program full of shows and workshops that seek to offer unforgettable experiences. From dance and theater to clown and literature, the program promises quality culture, always with a focus on sustainability and the circular economy.
Yvonne Thiery, director of Heart, has pointed out that "from the Peninsula, Primital Brothers, Ezno, Cia La Sincro, Joaco Showman and the always funny artists of the guild will land on our island. And from beyond our borders, 'Agro the Clown' will visit us from France." "The local talent, the result of the call made in July that received 36 proposals, reside in Paloma Hurtado, El Gran Chispita, Entropías Imposibles, Reinier Alfonso, Isabel Cabrera and Israel Curbelo and Abubukaka, all of them will make us feel proud of the art that exists in our land," he added.
The festival will offer a variety of workshops for all tastes: from story yoga with Laura Curbelo and circus with El Gran Chispita, to natural explorations along the coast with Fran Rodríguez. In addition, César Bona will boost imagination in his creative workshop, while 'QB School' will present an innovative percussion proposal that will culminate in a joint exhibition.
This festival not only celebrates the performing arts, but also emphasizes social cohesion, citizen participation and sustainability. On Saturday, October 21, 'Culture and Enyesque: The diversity that unites us' will be held, a round table where cultural leaders will debate the role of culture in social inclusion and diversity. In addition, the Avenida de Playa Honda will become, thanks to 435 volunteers from associations and educational centers in the municipality, a vibrant stage full of life, color, and magic.
And, speaking of magic, the festival takes a giant step towards the future with clean energy generation equipment, guaranteeing zero-emission shows. But that's not all, they will also calculate the carbon footprint of each participating person to then compensate for it on our beloved island.
The mayor of the San Bartolomé City Council, Isidro Pérez, accompanied by the councilor for Festivities of the consistory, Estefanía Luzardo, has valued the cultural proposal stating that "it is a brilliant example of how we can combine art, fun and sustainability in a single package. I am proud that the families of our municipality can enjoy a great festival that, during those days, will turn our maritime avenue into a sanctuary of creativity, fun and learning, offering an accessible and participatory space for all."
For his part, the Minister of Culture of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Jesús Machín, has stated that 'Heart' is more than just a simple festival; it is a social gathering that embraces sustainable development and the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, fundamental pillars for building an inclusive society that is aware of the environment. From the Culture Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and La Graciosa, it was impossible not to continue supporting this valuable initiative for our society."
Yvonne Thiery wanted to thank all the participants, highlighting "the trust and involvement of the groups and associations that have placed in Heart. Your passion and commitment have been essential to give life to this festival." "In addition, I cannot fail to mention our collaborators, public institutions and entities that, with their unconditional support, have once again demonstrated that culture and sustainability are fundamental pillars for Lanzarote," he added.
Co-organized by the San Bartolomé City Council and Arenao Producciones, and sponsored by Promotur Turismo de Canarias, the Cabildo de Lanzarote y La Graciosa and the Instituto Canario de Desarrollo Cultural (ICDC), the festival has the collaboration of companies such as Lumar, Chacón and Relaxia.
