The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), attached to the Ministry of Culture and Sport, has recently published the final resolution of grants for the organization of film festivals and competitions in Spain. Among all the projects presented at the state level—including festivals of recognized prestige such as Sitges, Málaga, or Valladolid, with more than half a century of history—the Film Showcase has obtained the ninth best funding, an achievement that has been maintained consecutively for the last three years.

Javier Fuentes Feo, director of the Showcase, points out that "the work done in recent years is bearing extraordinary fruit. For those of us who work on this project, it is a source of pride to be among the festivals best funded by the ICAA. The news shows that, when one works with rigor and passion, Lanzarote is seen as a cultural reference center. The Film Showcase now has more external funding, which is very positive for boosting other economies on our island”.

This endorsement from the ICAA, which has also recognized other Canary Islands festivals, reinforces the idea that highly relevant national and international cultural projects are developed on the islands.

In the regional sphere, the Lanzarote Film Festival ranks first in the grants from the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development, a particularly significant milestone as it is the youngest festival among those most highly rated.

The Lanzarote Film Festival is supported by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism, the Lanzarote External Promotion Society through the Lanzarote Film Commission, and sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands – Canary Islands Latitude of Life –, as well as with the support of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts of Spain (ICAA).
